Whole grain spread is an excellent everyday breakfast because it uses whole grains. It's simple to make but a bit time-consuming, so it's recommended to prepare it the night before and leave it for a few days. That way, you can simply heat it up in the morning and it's ready to go.
Ingredients
1 cup of whole grains
6 cups of water
a pinch of salt
Preparation
Rinse the cereals, transfer them to a saucepan, add the water and salt, bring to the boil and cook with the lid on for 2.5-3 hours (half the time in a pressure cooker).
The cooked grains will be very soft and partially crumbly. The cream can be eaten as is or blended to further break it up, then seasoned sweetly or savoryly, with apricot jam and chopped almonds, or with tamari and gomasio. It's up to you!
